Sophia Foisy is a violinist with 15 years of experience and a strong foundation in both individual and ensemble performance. She currently performs with the Georgia Tech Concert Orchestra and has trained extensively through the Suzuki Method, while also gaining exposure to a variety of additional learning approaches. Her musical background includes years of orchestral experience, beginning at a young age and continuing through advanced youth and collegiate ensembles. She enjoys performing a wide range of repertoire, from classical works to more contemporary styles, and values the versatility that comes from exploring different musical genres.
Her teaching approach is student-focused and engagement-driven, with an emphasis on keeping students motivated through music they enjoy while still building strong technical fundamentals. She balances creativity with structure, helping students develop solid technique, musicality, and confidence in their playing. Lessons are supportive and interactive, encouraging questions, curiosity, and a healthy approach to mistakes as part of the learning process. Her goal is to help each student grow at a comfortable pace while staying inspired and connected to their instrument.
Outside of music, Sophia is a student at Georgia Tech studying International Affairs. She enjoys reading, film photography, and spending time with her 120-pound German Shepherd.
