Well-versed in all genres of music, Monique Clarke has an extensive performance and teaching history. During her 20-year career, she has transformed the musical lives of many young artists; and is committed to music as a life-long pursuit. She’s passionate about helping all of her students – whether 6 or 86 - achieve their highest musical potential.
‘Ms. Monique,’ as her students lovingly call her, completed a Bachelors in Music at Georgia State University, graduating from the studios of classical pianists Dr. Brandt Fredriksen and Dr. Geoffrey Haydn; as well as jazz pianists Kevin Bales, Tyrone Jackson and Louis Herriveax. In addition to piano, Monique has studied classical voice with Spelman College professors Laura English-Robinson and Carolyn E. Brailsford; and studied jazz vocals Audrey Shakir and Canadian singer Mary Jo Bischoff.
Ms. Clarke has performed on stage as vocalist and pianist for numerous combos and ensembles, including with jazz saxophonist Joe Lovano at The Fox Theater; at Marietta’s Strand Theater; and with Joe Grandsden’s Jazz Orchestra. She also has experience as leader of her own jazz combo, featuring upright bass, drums, vocals, saxophone and trumpet; and enjoys composing and arranging new music in her spare time.
