Dr. Jenkins received his PhD (with a minor in piano performance) and MM degrees in music theory from the Fred Fox School of Music at University of Arizona.  He has taught Music Theory and Aural Skills at GSU since 2014.  Prior to that he was a lecturer at University of Arizona.

His research interests include form in 18th- and 19th-century music, Schenkerian analysis, Sonata Theory, the music of Johannes Brahms, and form in rock music. He has presented papers on Brahms and 19th-century music at Society for Music Theory national conferences and the American Brahms Society national conference in New York. 

 Dr. Jenkins has played piano since childhood.  He completed post baccalaureate work in piano pedagogy and performance at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.  His previous piano instructors include John Milbauer, Tianshu Wang, Nicholas Zumbro, Elizabeth Pridonoff, and Mary Craig Powell.  He has taught at The Music Studio of Atlanta since the fall of 2020.  Aside from music, Dr. Jenkins loves to play tennis, read about history, and watch movies of all genres. He currently lives in Smyrna with his wife Courtney and son Ronan.
