Juliet DeVette

Music Teacher

Juliet DeVette is a dynamic and multi-talented music educator with a rich background in both classical and contemporary music. Juliet began her musical journey at the age of five, quickly demonstrating an innate ability to play piano and sing by ear. After receiving private classical piano instruction through her childhood, Juliet shifted her focus to songwriting at age 15. Additionally, she started playing trombone in jazz bands at 13 in her hometown of Penang, Malaysia, performing with award-winning musicians recognized globally.

Holding a MIDI Certificate in Digital Music Production and a Digital Media Grant from Salt Lake Community College, Juliet is deeply engaged in music production. Her songwriting and production style are influenced by artists such as Lizzy McAlpine, Jacob Collier, and Billie Eilish. Juliet continues to perform and record with various bands, exploring her diverse musical interests. Beyond music, Juliet’s creative pursuits include acting and filmmaking, and she is fluent in Mandarin and Japanese, adding a unique cultural depth to her artistic and teaching endeavors.

In her teaching, Juliet adopts a highly personalized approach, tailoring her methods to suit each student's individual learning style. With over five years of teaching experience, she emphasizes achievable goals and positive reinforcement, making learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Juliet also incorporates fun games and exercises into her lessons to reinforce musical concepts. She is proficient in advanced piano and offers beginner lessons in guitar, ukulele, and trombone, making her a versatile instructor capable of guiding students across a broad spectrum of musical disciplines.
