Jessica Sierra explored several instruments growing up before discovering her love for the violin at age 12. She went on to study Violin Performance at the University of Georgia, where she received a performance scholarship. After graduating, she began freelancing throughout the Atlanta area, performing with regional orchestras, touring artists, and at special events around the city. Alongside her performance career, Jessica taught private violin lessons and group classes. She later became a member of the Savannah Philharmonic and served as Director of the Decatur Strings program, where she taught orchestra classes to elementary and middle school students.
Jessica believes in tailoring every lesson to the individual student, recognizing that everyone learns differently and brings their own interests and goals to music. She places a strong emphasis on proper technique and instrument setup, using those skills as a foundation for musical expression. Lessons incorporate scales, etudes, and repertoire chosen to reflect each student's experience and musical tastes. She also loves finding creative ways to bring music to life, whether through storytelling with younger students or exploring the emotions and feelings behind a piece. Above all, Jessica strives to create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment where students feel comfortable growing, asking questions, and discovering their own musical voices.
Outside of teaching, Jessica loves making music and spending time with her husband and two young daughters. Her musical tastes range from classical to indie folk, rock, and pop, and she enjoys finding inspiration in all kinds of music. When she's not playing or teaching, you might find her cooking vegan meals, spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, or hunting for unique finds while thrifting.
