Emily Yu

Music Teacher

Emily Yu is a distinguished pianist and dedicated music educator with a rich background in classical piano performance. Emily began her musical journey at the age of 6, studying under a former Juilliard pre-college instructor who introduced her to the world of classical piano. She honed her skills and passion for music, eventually earning a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Florida. Throughout her career, Emily has achieved recognition at numerous statewide music competitions in Florida, including being a Concerto Winner at the University of Florida and performing Chopin's F Minor Concerto with the Florida State University Orchestra.

Beyond her accomplishments in classical music, Emily has a broad taste in music that encompasses contemporary genres, pop rock hits, and Broadway musical songs. She actively participates in her church music community, accompanying the choir and services, and enjoys both hymns and contemporary Christian music. One of her most cherished experiences includes serving the community by accompanying the Chicago Children's Choir and various instrumental and vocal ensembles in Marietta City Schools.

As a music teacher with over five years of experience, Emily places a strong emphasis on student engagement and structured learning. She ensures each lesson is a comprehensive experience that fosters both technical skill and personal musical exploration. Emily allows students to explore music that interests them while also covering the necessary technical aspects, making each session not only educational but also highly enjoyable.
