Dan Cake has been passionate about music since childhood, beginning classical piano studies at age five and going on to compete in state-level competitions. Alongside piano, he played clarinet throughout concert and marching bands and developed his vocal skills in choirs and choral settings. He earned a BFA in Music Theatre, receiving training in singing, dancing, and acting, which later led him to perform and serve as Music Director with Disney Cruise Line and AIDA Cruises. His accomplishments include winning the Stillman-Kelley piano competition in Pennsylvania and serving as Vocal Captain with Disney Cruise Line, and he is currently a member of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus.
In lessons, Dan provides a balance of structure and creativity, tailoring his approach to each student’s needs. For voice, he begins with technique and vocal agility before applying those skills to repertoire, often in Broadway or pop/rock styles. In piano lessons, his classical foundation shines through as he emphasizes theory, scales, proper technique, and posture, guiding students into engaging repertoire such as the Faber series or pieces that inspire them personally. His goal is to help students build confidence, solid musicianship, and a genuine love for their craft.
Beyond teaching, Dan is a music and animal enthusiast who enjoys running and prioritizing self-care. He believes music is deeply healing and reminds us to embrace playfulness in life, since it is too short to be taken too seriously.
