Clayton Troutman’s musical journey began at age eight when he received a mini digital keyboard for Christmas, sparking a passion for music that continues to grow today. He plays piano, clarinet, and guitar, and has been composing music for more than six years. Clayton graduated Magna Cum Laude from Belmont University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition, where he received extensive training in music history, theory, and composition while studying piano under the principal pianist of the Nashville Symphony. He is also a proud alumnus of Belmont University’s College of Music & Performing Arts.
Clayton’s teaching style balances strong technical development with engaging repertoire and creative learning methods to make lessons both enjoyable and rewarding. While building instrumental skills and musical progress remains a priority, he places equal importance on helping students develop confidence, character, and a sense of accomplishment. His lessons are designed to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking on challenges and celebrating their growth. Whether working with beginners or more advanced musicians, Clayton strives to make each lesson meaningful and encouraging.
Outside of teaching, Clayton enjoys listening to jazz, rock, and film and video game music. In his free time, he can often be found spending time with friends, enjoying a great burger, or following college football. A fun fact about Clayton is that he released an eight-track orchestral album, Journey Through a Lifetime, in 2023, showcasing his passion for composition and storytelling through music.
