Brian Hill’s musical journey began in middle school on tuba, where he quickly advanced and went on to earn All-District honors. He also studied alto saxophone through Georgia State’s Rialto youth jazz program before expanding into guitar, keyboard, and voice at Rhodes College in Memphis. His performance highlights include Carnegie Hall, the Citrus Bowl halftime show, the Rudolfinum in Prague with his college choir, and extensive gigging around Memphis with jazz bands and combos.
Brian’s lessons are rooted in a safe, encouraging environment with a strong focus on rhythm, fundamentals, and ear training. He helps students connect with music as naturally as possible while steadily expanding their skills and musical understanding. Lessons are flexible and student centered, often combining focused technique work with creative exploration and, when appropriate, open jam time.
Deeply passionate about music, community, and curiosity, Brian brings an open minded and adventurous spirit to everything he does. He enjoys a wide range of genres including jazz, rock, soul, R&B, hip hop, classical, and Latin music. Outside of teaching and performing, Brian loves camping and rock climbing, though music remains his favorite way to connect with the world, both professionally and personally.
