Alma Dytoc began composing music at age five and has since become a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, guitar, ukulele, cello, keyboard percussion, and traditional Asian instruments like koto, gamelan, and kulintang. She is half of the music duo Man Hands Lizzie, performing original songs live and online, and has created music for theatre, TV, and film.
Alma lives by W.B. Yeats’ words: “Education is not the filling of the pail, but the lighting of the fire.” Her lessons are joyful and dynamic, celebrating small achievements, using movement and games, and teaching students how to practice efficiently—all while keeping focus balanced with fun and laughter.
Alma has received national awards for her compositions, published choral works, and represented the Philippines in performances with the ASEAN-Korea Traditional Orchestra. Outside the studio, she enjoys writing short stories, crafting, and sharing her home with two black cats who, though wary of the piano, love her cello playing.
