Faith West earned her bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance studying with Sergiu Schwartz at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. Through the years, she received additional study under Levon Ambartsumian and Shakhida Azimkhodzhaeva at the University of Georgia. For eight years, West also trained under Curtis Institute of Music grad Valerie Bobbett Gardner.
West’s extensive nearly 20 years of experience with performing and teaching the violin have given her a deep knowledge of how to diagnose and treat incorrect approaches while encouraging a natural and informed style of playing for students of all ages and abilities.
An expressive musician with a desire to promote beautiful music achieved through excellent education, West is trained in the art of sound pedagogical practices and is a firm advocate for creative, highly individualized music instruction within the realm of traditional technique. Throughout the years, West gained vast experience in orchestral and chamber music settings, serving in leadership and principal positions within various performance groups including directing community outreach ensemble programs throughout Northeast Georgia for a number of years.
During her time at the Schwob School of Music, West added to her considerable piano experience by receiving secondary studies in piano. Upon graduation, West began teaching with The Music Studio Atlanta and Courtnay & Rowe Music Academy where she relishes the opportunity to help students reach their full musical potential. Although she specializes in violin, she also teaches piano. West currently enjoys a vibrant freelance musician lifestyle.
